"This is my first written Trip Advisor review. I had been content to gather information passively from other contributors, but our extraordinary stay at the Oak Hill Inn required me to act. We booked this place soley on the basis of the other trip advisor reviews.
The house is beautiful inside and out. The interior is decorated with amazing antiques which have clearly been researched and tell a story all there own. Doug explains all the history in his entertaining house tour. The house is located in the heart of historical Natchez but on a dead end street which contributes to a peaceful and relaxing pace and allows one to unwind and decompress from the stresses in ones life..."
"This wonderful B&B is the best we have ever stayed in - in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia or New Zea land. The breakfasts are outstanding, the yard and garden beautiful and restful, and the hosts are friendly and helpful beyond our expectations. The rooms are so comfortable. The ambiance of the house is that of elegant comfort. We nominate this B&B as world class - and we can't wait to go back."
"As usual we had a fine experience at Oak Hill. You get a gourmet breakfast that would cost you $25 a person minimum in the price of the room. If you want another fine dining experience ask them to do a dinner for your group. The price is very reasonable and the wine they serve with it is first class. The owners are obviously proud of their home and they have many fine pieces of furniture and antiques they have accumulated from their families historic past and through meticulous shopping excursions which the have taken all over the world.
I have stayed in a good number of B&B's over the country but Oak Hill in Natchez is at the top of the list."
"Get out of the snow this winter when you are stuck at home with little to do, but clean house and pick up and put away. How much more fun to enjoy a warm Southern welcome, live among exquisite antiques you don't have to dust and eat sumptuously without having to carefully cleanup the good china and crystal.
----Really, for a single, less sterile than visiting a spa resort, a more friendly welcome from the natives while strolling the town just outside your door than tipping hotel staff, and a world away from the 21st century.
The historic Inn is surrounded by grounds with playing fountains and outside your window Spanish moss screens your view. Your hosts have thoughtfully provided all the amenities and are at your beck and call, but the size of the mansion allows a privacy augmented by the fact that only 3 guest suites are available. Therefore, you have the music room, library, sun porch, outside grounds, guest pantry with an icebox of drinks 24 hours to call your own..."
"I have stayed at B&Bs and inns around the world and just added Oak Hill Inn to my short list of favorites (a really short list of two; Number 11 in Bruges, Belgium and now Oak Hill in Natchez). Doug and Don did a wonderful job restoring this historic 1830's house. The house comes alive with the beautiful period furniture, art and other objects they collected over decades or that have descended from family. They are gracious and attentive hosts and the breakfasts are second-to-none to any I have had at this type accommodation (think eggs Benedict with Meyer lemon hollandaise as just part of a delicious breakfast). We thoroughly enjoyed our first time in Natchez in large part to Doug and Don. We will be back, and I know where we will stay."
"Undoubtedly the best B&B we’ve ever stayed at – deservedly recognised as a world class B&B year on year.
I wholeheartedly endorse all the gushing reviews already submitted…the environment, presentation, hospitality, breakfasts, the house itself – all perfect.
Donald and Doug were excellent hosts – helpful, entertaining, informative. However, our visit was further enhanced by the other guests they attract, and the atmosphere created which naturally led to relaxed chatter, sharing of experiences and opinions. All providing us with an unforgettable experience."
"My husband and I recently stayed at this amazing B&B. Coming from the hospitality industry, I can say that they don't miss a thing and go above & beyond to make your experience the best possible. The home is stunning. It was like being in a museum. Owner, Don's gourmet breakfasts are award worthy and each day we were overwhelmed with the presentation, flavor and variety...simply fantastic. The well maintained grounds could be featured in Southern Living and owner, Doug was the most gracious, informative and entertaining host anyone could hope for. When, if ever, have you hugged your host goodbye when checking out. If you get the chance to stay here, you will never forget it. We will be back and miss it already!"
"One of the prime advantages of a bed and breakfast is the opportunity see the location you are visiting through the eyes and experiences of those who host you. Don and Doug complement each other with excellent breakfasts and superb guidance on what to see and do in Natchez, respectively. The inn is exquisitely appointed and has its own story which is compelling in its own right."
From the moment we arrived Doug and Don pampered us. The home was beautiful, our rooms were so comfortable and all of our needs were met. This B&B was the best I have ever stayed at. They brought our luggage up to our rooms which is unusual and we loved it. They made reservations for us, they gave us maps to the city and talked to us about the historic sights in Natchez. Both host were very knowledgeable about the history of Natchez homes. Just a great experience all the way around. Last but not least was the breakfast, just amazing, Don can cook! Beautiful, elegant and delish! Will recommend Oak Hill to everyone I know, and my sisters and I will be back!
Oak Hill is a beautiful antebellum home which has been thoughtfully and carefully restored and this coupled with the kind and and generous hospitality from Doug and Don is what makes this a really special B&B. The tour Doug gave us of the house was fascinating and personal. Don's breakfasts were amazing and truly delicious. Our stay at Oak Hill was a highlight of 4 weeks' touring in the US and I would recommend it wholeheartedly - it was a first class experience.
